On entering the clinic, our friendly receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. We will ask you to complete our patient forms, if not already downloaded and filled in below. These forms provide us with important information about your health history and your condition.
Family Chiropractic Sussex offers our patient forms online so they can be completed in the convenience of your own home or office, before you even arrive to our clinic.
Once you have completed the New Patient Forms then the chiropractor will take you into a private room and review your health history thoroughly.
After the chiropractor has discussed your health history he, or she, will examine your posture, flexibility, and do a neurological and orthopedic assessment. In essence your nerves, bones, joints and muscles will be examined to help determine what is causing your problem so that we can see exactly how we can help you. Sometimes x-rays or computerised nerve scans are needed to help assess what is causing your problem, and to get more information to work out how we can help you get the results you need.
Along with our in-house x-ray and processing facilities, we also have an Insight Subluxation Station, one of only a handful within the Greater London area. This ultra-modern facility was designed using a combination of American NASA Space technology and the knowledge of Chiropractors and Cardiologists, to enable the treating Chiropractor to gain knowledge of your body to help locate the cause of your problem. This computerised nerve scan can look closely at the functioning of your spine and your nerves and how they relate to your muscles and organ parts and ultimately how they relate to your health condition or pain. These can be used in combination with x-rays, or without x-rays, to really find the cause of your problem. By assessing your spine and the nerves and how it relates to the rest of the body we can really help you to achieve the results that you are looking for.
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and any x-rays or scans, your chiropractor will discuss any recommendations and notify you if your condition requires the assistance of other health-care providers. Your chiropractor will show you your x-rays and scan results, and discuss these with you, so that you can actually see what is happening for yourself and gain a full understanding of your condition.
Your chiropractor will work out and discuss the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.
At this point, if you decide to begin care, your first treatment can begin. Taking the time to discover what is really wrong helps us to address your needs more effectively and efficiently. Your treatment will only begin with your consent.
After you have seen and understood what is wrong and what needs correcting, we can begin your treatment and start getting you better. The treatment may include spinal adjustments which are light, but specific movements of the joints and bones of the spine (adjustments can be light, or firm on request). We use special benches designed to assist with the chiropractic adjustment. We may also do soft tissue work, trigger point therapy massage, exercises and provide specific lifestyle advice as needed.
We can also provide treatment of your upper and lower limbs and their joints such as knees, elbows, feet, wrists and ankles, so please let us know if any of these area are also affected.
We can provide an in-house pillow measuring service, to see what sized pillow would best suit your neck while you sleep so as to reduce abnormal pressures on the neck or rest of the spine. The average person sleeps 6-8 hour per night, so having the correct neck and head support while you sleep can really aid your recovery. We have several sizes and heights of pillows on-site which are available to purchase, and as we have different sizes and heights we can help find the best one to suit you.
Your chiropractor can also recommend an appropriate mattress for your particular spine condition, however the clinic does not sell or stock mattresses.
